Easy-to-Schedule, Low-Cost DOT Physical Examinations at Joint Chiropractic

Standard medical physicals are required for many types of jobs. These medical examinations clear you for most types of employment, and can be conducted by most any general physician.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) examinations are different in that they require a physical from a federally-certified DOT physician. Dr. Sarah Joint is licensed to complete Commercial Driver's License Exams. She fully understands and adheres to the medical standards required by the FMCSA Regulations, and how they relate to the medical demands of operating a commercial motor vehicle. The U.S. Department of Transportation mandates that anyone applying for or with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must pass this exam every two years. The time between DOT Physicals may be shorter if you have a medical condition that requires more stringent monitoring. Assuming you pass the exam and there are no medical concerns, you will leave with your Medical Examination Report and a laminated DOT medical card.

Please note that DOT Physicals are not covered by most health insurance.

Attention Drivers!

There have been many recent changes in the certification process and tougher requirements that must be met to be certified. Please be prepared before arriving at our office.

You will need to bring:

  • Your current driver's license.
  • A list of all current medications/doses and prescribing doctor's name.
  • Glasses or contacts and hearing aids if you use them.
  • Supporting information for any complicating medical conditions.

You must be able to give a urine sample at the time of exam.

Stay ahead in the hiring game

The FMCSA does not require CDL drivers to pass a DOT Physical exam when moving from one driving job to another. However, many employers are now choosing to be proactive in hiring practices by adding DOT Physical Exams to their pre-employment checks.

The benefits of adding DOT Physical Exams to your pre-employment checks include:

  • The ability to verify the validity of each CDL driver's medical examiners certificate and ensure that the new driver has no health issues that could cause safety risks for themselves and others or create liability for your company.
  • Having the information needed to create a complete driver file for insurance and compliance reporting.
  • Having first-hand knowledge of exam expiration – enabling you to avoid potential fines and insurance rate increases.

We make it easy to keep your drivers compliant and on-the-road – helping you meet company and customer goals!
